remo chiengora concept

Remo
I’m Ania, the owner of a dog named Remco. We’ve been together for four years and it was he -a Samoyed- who inspired me to explore the potential of dog hair in therapeutic design. From personal experience and observation, I know how important it is to create products that support mental health and neurodevelopmental disorders. By using entirely natural materials, the pillows offer a unique sensory experience that promotes both mental and physical well-being, while also introducing a sense of closeness to a four-legged companion.
Concept
Made naturally and designed practically.
I wanted the products to have both a therapeutic and a functional purpose. Another aspect I am deeply committed to is the design of the pillow itself — how it looks, what pattern it has, and how the colors are combined. I want each pillow to be unique and one of a kind, highlighting its artisanal character.
The materials I have used to create the product are natural and eco-friendly. The technique is a return to traditional weaving, where each pattern is handwoven on a weaving frame. Before starting this process, I carefully clean and wash the dog hair, and then sterilize it at a low temperature.

Chiengora/dog yarn.
It is a fiber obtained from dog hair, used for spinning and weaving. The fur of dogs with an undercoat is soft, warm and durable.
It is twice as warm as sheep’s wool.
Dog fur has healing properties, as it stimulates nerve endings when in contact with the skin, creating an effect similar to acupuncture and micromassage, which improves circulation.
The dog hair used in the pillow provides warmth and softness, promoting relaxation. It creates a sense of closeness to an animal, combining sensory therapy with elements of canine-assisted therapy.
